In today's world, chronic diseases are becoming increasingly common. From heart disease to type 2 diabetes, these conditions are causing significant harm to individuals and putting a strain on healthcare systems worldwide. However, what if these "diseases" are not something that we "catch" - they are something that we are “given”
The reality is that many chronic diseases of our time are predominantly caused by consuming processed foods, sugars, and seed oils. These "diseases" are merely symptoms that did not exist 50 years ago. However, the medical profession often treats these conditions without questioning the root causes. Healthcare systems refuse to address the 50 years of causation that have led to the rise of these chronic conditions.
If we consider the analogy of being hit by a motor scooter while walking down the road, we do not think of this as a disease. Instead, we identify who or what caused our injuries. The same can be said of processed food, sugars, and seed oils. These non-foods are causing internal damage that leads to inflammation throughout the body. As a result, the microsensors in the nerves and neurons start to malfunction. Microvascular inflammation then erupts, leading to severe conditions in various parts of the body, such as the eyes, brain, liver, and kidneys. The immune system, muscles, lungs, and heart are all affected on the road to ruin.
Processed Food Provoked Diseases (PFPDs).
The list of PFPDs is endless and includes heart failure, atherosclerosis, erectile dysfunction, macular degeneration, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer's, chronic kidney disease, NAFLD, arthritis, peripheral neuropathy, stroke, and cancer. These conditions can be life-threatening, and the impact on individuals and their families can be devastating, crippling them financially.
It's time to take control of our health and understand how we can prevent these conditions from occurring. The first step is to recognize that these conditions are not something that we "catch." Instead, they are something that we are given through our diet and lifestyle choices. And are totally preventable.
The solution is to adopt a lower carbohydrate diet that emphasizes high-quality proteins and healthy fats. This type of diet can help reduce inflammation and promote healthy microvascular function.
Here are some specific steps you can take to prevent PFPDs:
1. Focus on whole, unprocessed foods: Choose fresh fruits and vegetables, proteins with some fat as well as avocados and nuts. Avoid packaged and processed foods that contain combos of added strange sugars, seed oils, food colourings and pesticide residues.
2. Reduce your high fructose corn syrup intake: Sugar consumption is one of the leading causes of chronic diseases. Limit your intake of added sugars, including those found in soda/soft drinks, candy/sweets, and baked goods.
3. Avoid seed oils: Seed oils such as canola, soybean, and corn oil are highly processed and can cause inflammation in the body. Instead, opt for healthy fats such as butter, lard, tallow, coconut oil, and avocado oil.
4. Exercise regularly: Slightly more exercise can help improve microvascular function and reduce inflammation in the body. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week. Build up slowly by changing one’s routine
5. Get enough sleep: Poor sleep can lead to inflammation and other health problems. Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep per night to promote optimal health.
By taking these steps, you can significantly reduce your risk of developing PFPDs. While it may take some effort to adopt a lower carbohydrate diet and make lifestyle changes, the long-term benefits are worth it.
These chronic diseases are not something that we "catch." Instead, they are a result of our diet and lifestyle choices. By adopting a lower carbohydrate diet, avoiding processed foods, sugars, and seed oils, and making lifestyle changes such as exercise and getting enough sleep, we can significantly reduce our risk of developing PFPDs.
Let's take control of our health and prevent these conditions from occurring on a personal level because governments won’t help.
